Weekend Update 9/9

Last week was rather craptastic for getting any writing done. Between re-acclimating to work after being sick for a week, starting my docent classes again, getting into arguments on Twitter, and basically rearranging the furniture layout of the entire house, there was not a lot of time to be really productive. Oops.

I DID get SOME writing done, though (more below), and I’m trying to keep up the optimism instead of allowing my normal predictions of doom, gloom, and eternal failure to bog me down. So far, seeing how much I’m doing helps a lot, so hurray for blogging!

The Chronicles

Progress report: Two chapters transcribed and edited, and a prologue is in the works for the sake of clarity and remembering my own damn mythology.

Short term goals: Transcribe current draft from spiral notebook before all my writing becomes illegible.

(Very) Long term goals: Complete a draft.

The Night Palace

Progress report: Research goal from last week is progressing nicely. I don’t have everything suitably resolved yet, but my cast of monsters and their foils are fleshing out nicely.

Current word count: 6,872 (no change this week)

Short term goals: Finish needed research into demons and evil spirits in Middle Eastern mythology/folklore. Get back to writing story.

Long term goals: Complete story. Edit and cut to under 10,000 words.

Flash fiction

Progress report: The expansion of my mermaid story is about halfway done.

Current word count: 382

Short term goals: Complete the draft this week.

Long term goals: Edit and submit to that flash fiction pub/hold onto it and enjoy that I actually managed to complete something.

NEW PROJECT

192 Stratford

Word count: 646

Short term goals: Another 100-400 words this week.

Long term goals: Finish a draft in time for Halloween. 🙂

About Morgan Maria D'Isidoro

Morgan Maria D'Isidoro has lived in Baltimore, MD for most of her life, saving a handful of failed escape attempts. Given the murder rates, she'll probably die here too. Morgan is a writer of speculative fiction and poetry, a musician of dubious quality, cat aficionado, art history fangirl, kitchen sorceress, recovering pyromaniac, accomplished liar, and an all around person of questionable employability.
