Because I have been a life-long dork, reorganizing my hard copy files this weekend has revealed some adorable tidbits of nerdiness, circa 2003. One of these was a poem I wrote with my friend Trish for the student organization we planned to start: Students for the Protection of Earth Worms, or SPEW for short.

The rain floods your home

So you must flee

Onto the sidewalk,

But no one can see

Your bloated body

Floating there,

Weary from swimming

And thrashing with despair.

But there! A light!

Your shining hope.

A girl come and puts you

On the dry patch of road.

Students for the Protection of Earth Worms! Join today!

About Morgan Maria D'Isidoro

Morgan Maria D'Isidoro has lived in Baltimore, MD for most of her life, saving a handful of failed escape attempts. Given the murder rates, she'll probably die here too. Morgan is a writer of speculative fiction and poetry, a musician of dubious quality, cat aficionado, art history fangirl, kitchen sorceress, recovering pyromaniac, accomplished liar, and an all around person of questionable employability.
